Key West - Saltwater Fishing Report

The flats fishing around Key West has been quite good the last few days. We've moved away from the full moon tides, which has apparently helped out the fishing quite a bit. The spring tides can work well if they're are in conjunction with a stable weather pattern. This has not been the case for several weeks now as windy and cooler temp have plagued the flats fishing. However, I am happy to report this has turned around and the last few days have been wonderful for flats fishing.
The resident tarpon are defiantly on the move, migrating to and from various shallow water locations around the lower Florida Keys. Fly fishing or spin tackle? The choice is yours. Most of my customers have been keen fly fisherman so that's been out method.
The bonefish are back on the flats once again. I noticed a vacancy in that department for almost a week as they were presumably out spawning.

Permit fishing? Less fish around as to be expected for the month of April. Many of these guys head offshore around the blue Moon in the spring time. Fear not, they do not all tend leave at once. So there are still some around to target with a fly or crab.
Let's hope for more good weather.
I still have some summer tarpon dates open for you.
