The Fishing Report. March 12, 2014.More Winter Tarpon!

5 weeks ago I posted a blog that said..."Get on a plane now, The Winter Tarpon are Here!" Well, we have had several weeks of good Winter Tarpon fishing mostly to laid up Tarpon that we are sight casting to on the flats! There were some sizeable fish moving into the Gulf and Atlantic Basins.

Alas, we just had a cold front blow in tonight and the Tarpon Fever will have to be treated by tying more flies and leaders in anticipation of the next "push" of silver king.Even when the wind blows 20-25 we can get out for some good fishing. For some anglers, this kind of wind is a no-go situation. However, Miguel from Spain was only here for a few days and wanted to catch a Tarpon very badly! So, we found some Tarpon laid up in a local canal that was protected from the winds.
