Marathon - Saltwater Fishing Report
Snapper fishing is hot right now with plenty of Muttons, Mangroves and Yellowtails lining the fish boxes of Keys anglers as they head home from a days fishing. Muttons biting on the deeper wrecks and plenty of good Mangrove Snapper on the shallow reef oceanside of Marathon and in FL Bay as well. Yellowtail have been hot too especially after dark if you feel like beating the heat and sun this is a good bet.
Offshore fishing for Mahi has been spotty but excellent at times with some nice fish up to 35lb hitting the local charter boat docks. Blackfin Tuna have been hot at times around the West hump and there have been some nice Wahoo up to 50lb showing up around the middle Keys from 600-1500ft of water.
Swordfish bite has been slow due to rough conditions and not many boats out trying it but calming seas should allow swordfishermen to get out to the grounds this week.
Lobster mini season is this week and we urge all to be careful when out lobstering especially those who are out there in the dark. Let's make it a safe season this year....
Inshore fishing for Tarpon has been ok at times with some schools moving up the atlantic shorelines migrating north. Plenty of school sized tarpon still at the bridges at night. Lure fishing has been good with plenty of bites on the incoming tide.
Good luck in all your fishing adventures!
