Marathon, Florida Keys

Capt. Bob Brown

Marathon - Saltwater Fishing Report

Dolphin Under Debris!

Lately the offshore scene has been littered with some floating debris and some scattered weed patches that have been holding some nice schools of decent sized Dolphin. Several keys guides have reported nice catcdhes of Dolphin mostly from 18-22 miles offshore. Don't forget that this is Marlin time of year so be prepared for that occasional Blue or White Marlin showing up in your spread. You might want to troll one larger bait on a 30 or 50lb. rod further back in the spread just for that occasional big bite!

Nice sized Muttons and Groupers have been coming in from the oceanside deep water wrecks and reef patches and some excellent Yellowtail fishing has been going on at night off of Duck Key and the Long Key bridge. Nice catches of Mangrove Snappers at night have been reported also.

The MAngrove Snapper fisihing has started to improve a bit in Florida Bay along with some nice Trout and Redfish being taken. Gulf wrecks have had Permit, and a few Cobia along with some Grouper and Goliath's.

Good luck in all of your fishing adventures!

Capt. Bob Brown, Jr.
