Marathon - Saltwater Fishing Report

Yellowtail Bite Is On
The Reef fishing has been hot lately for Yellowtail Snapper on the reef both at night and during the day. During the recent full moon, many serious Yellowtail anglers have been out there at night and have been scoring heavily on the "flag" sized Tails. Best action has been off of Duck Key and Long Key in 60-85ft. of water using a variety of baits but mostly silversides, fresh cut bonito, glass minnows or live pilchards. The best bet at night is to head out before it gets dark and find your spot and use plenty of chum to get the fish worked up to the boat by dark. Once the moon rises, the bite is on big time and so is the fun! Other areas that have been producing are off of Key Colony beach near marker 20 and off of Bi Pine Key in 60-75 ft of water.
The offshore bite has been a bit spotty olately but some good catches of Dolphin have been reported form in near the reef in 120-180ft. of water. Look for Dolphin action to hang in there offshore as long as we don't have too many cold fronts.
Good luck in all of your fishing adventures!
Capt. Bob Brown, Jr.
