Marathon - Saltwater Fishing Report

Dolphin Still Around!
Nice catches of Dolphin (Mahi-Mahi) were common yesterday here in the middle Keys and we were fortunate to be on the scene. We managed to find some nice fish in the 30lb. range and had plenty of schoolie sized fish to keep the action going. Several nice weedlines were located about 7-10 miles off of Sombrero Reef Light and lots of boats were reporting good catches of Dolphin.
The Sailfish action has been good off of Tennessee Reef Light and east up toward Islamorada the past few days and a few were caught today off of Marathon and Sombrero Light in 120-220ft. of water. Look for the Sailfish to heat up as the cool weather up north continues.
Yellowtail Bite has been ON!
The reef fishing has been very good for Yellowtail Snapper lately in the 60-80ft. depths on the edge of the reef. Friday our crew of the Steinbergs had a great day of catching large Yellotail Snapper ending up with 24 large fish along with lots of Cero Mackerel, King Mackerel, Amberjacks, a large Mutton Snapper and some Groupers. This has been the story up and down the line on the reef when current and wind have been cooperating.
Bay Fishing Excellent!
The action for Snapper in Florida Bay has been excellent lately and nice fish up to the 4-5lb range have been coming to the docks. Good fishing for Mackerel has also been reported from the bay.
The busy week has seen some great fishing from all fronts and some great weather has helped many anglers get out and enjoy their favorite types of fishing here in the Florida Keys. You can do it too next time you visit!! For more info on fishing in the Florida Keys, check out our website. Good luck in all of your fishing adventures!
