Redfish Everywhere

Capt. Matt Hoover
December 13, 2010
Marco Island - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing this past week has been excellent. Redfish are everywhere and the water has turned clear in the Marco and Ten Thousand Islands areas. Low tides this week have made sight fishing reign supreme.

Live bait, jigs, shrimp, and flies are all working while sight fishing for the many small to slot sized redfish that we are seeing EVERYWHERE. The water has cooled and the water is very clear. There are some snook around but they are very lethargic. Let's hope that they will stay alert this year. We will start to fish a little deeper when not sight fishing for reds, sheepshead, black drum and anything else that will bite from now on. Right now a hideous cold front has passed through and it is blowing its socks off. Things will return to normal in a couple of days. Remember, I have two boats and do it all, but enjoy these pics of a couple of the smaller reds caught on the fly this week. I'll see you on the water.
