Marco Island - Saltwater Fishing Report

Narrow Miss
Fishing up to the advent of Hurricane Katrina had been fair to excellent. Bait was starting to come to the beaches of the Marco island area. We were starting to see bait come into the secluded coves of the Ten Thousand islands as well. Snook, redfish, and even tarpon were almost assured.
As Katrina skirted to the south of us and staged in the Gulf of Mexico, many of us breathed a sigh of relief. That does not come light hearted with most Floridians. All of us have felt the pain that is left behind in one shape or form from the devastation that is left in the wake of any hurricane. I for one am left dumfounded by the images that I am seeing on the TV of the Gulf States. Our prayers and donations go out to our brothers and sisters.
Many of us are just now getting back on the water as the wind has been whipping our shorelines for days now. I will have to get back to you with a better update as I am getting back on the water myself. To be honest, hurricane Katrina has sucked the wind out of my sails. Will update later.
