Report for Naples, Marco Island and the Ten Thousand Islands

Capt. Matt Hoover
January 22, 2007
Marco Island - Saltwater Fishing Report

Just Like Spring

We had another beautiful week of weather. Many days were in the high seventies to lower eighties. The last couple of fronts slid to the north of us and left the weather pleasant.

Fish were cooperating as well. I have been catching pompano in the passes from Marco to the Ten Thousand Islands. We have been catching tanker ladyfish, mackerel and a few bluefish too.

Small to medium snook have been a sure catch. I have been using sardines or shrimp under a popping cork. There have been enough redfish in the mix to keep everyone happy.

Look for sheepshead, black drum, and just about everything else by deep dropping shrimp into the deeper holes and runs throughout the islands.

The fishing has been great when you consider that we are in the middle of January. It is just like early spring weather. Come get some. I’ll see you on the water.

More Fishing Reports:

Light Tackle Spinfishing, live bait, artificial and flyfishing. I do it all. Fish for snook, redfish, trout and tarpon in the Marco Island, ten thousand islands and Everglades.
