Bull Reds moving in
Fished this Sunday in the Pine Island Elementary charity tournament and man what a good day of fishing for a good cause. I fished with my wife and son for this tournament and although we caught a lot of big fish we didn't win. Started out Sunday morning catching bait, catching quite a bit of pinfish where I had been catching more white bait before. After the well was loaded up we stayed close to where the bait wanted to be and set up. Set up the rods with a smorgasbord of cut and live bait with cut bait winning out on bull reds. Caught a couple 28-29 inch reds and settled bagging a 25" 4.64 lb Red before changing locations to target Snook. Although the tournament was 1 red, 1 snook, and 1 trout, me not getting the slot size snook took up my time the rest of the day. My OCD really kicked in and was the reason we didn't get our slam for the day. But congrats to the winners of the tourney. With water temps dropping a bit watch for the Reds on the flats and in potholes in the early morning warming up. Snook are all around in the mangroves but the big ones are still elusive with all the pressure they have on them right now.
Tight Lines
If you're ready to go fishing give me a call to plan your trip so we can try and catch the tides right.
