Matlacha - Saltwater Fishing Report

17 Feb 2018
It's getting warmer and the fishing even Hotter!
Sorry I haven't written a report in a while I've been fishing every day since my last report and have been exhausted when I get home after getting the boat and gear ready for the next day.
Since the last cold spell the weather and the water temps have warmed up. The reds have started biting good, Snook are biting, Jacks and I mean BIG Jacks are biting, Gator trout biting, Snapper moving back in and last but not least and most important the BAIT IS BACK!!
Right now the go to for dinner fair is big trout fishing grass flats or oyster bars using shrimp or greenbacks. I've been using shrimp on a popping cork to locate them and then if we're not getting 16" or better we switch it up to greenbacks free lined hooked through the tail.
Reds are biting at least for me on the outgoing tide for now with a few on incoming when I am fishing later when the tide is coming in. I am using mostly cut bait, lady fish or mullet. So if you're catching some lady's out there save them and cut them up in 1" chunks free lined for the reds.
Snook exact same methods for reds but now the white bait is back its game on for whatever you use.
The big jacks are out in the harbor all you have to do is sit out there a little bit and you will see them busting top water tearing it up. Get up to them and cast white bait or large shrimp right in the middle and hang on. Make sure your gear is up to the task.
Tight lines
Check out and like my Facebook https://www.facebook.com/jimbocharters/ and Instagram #jimboscharters page for recent pictures and trips. If you're ready to go fishing give me a call to plan your trip so we can try and catch the tides right. If you're a Veteran with proof I have the best prices around and I guarantee it. I'm also on Facebook at Jimbo's Charters where I post pictures if my clients let me and my website www.Jimboscharters.com and my You tube channel I am slowly building https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGhDg-V7oR-ex6W-5ztwLAQ
Also, if you see me out there say Hi. I am a friendly guy that likes to help. Just don't ask for a pin point location, but I will tell you what I am catching fish on.
