25 March 2015 Snook and trout on fire!

Matlacha - Saltwater Fishing Report

25 March 2015
After catching some white bait this morning I took Rick L. out this morning for a short trip in Matlacha pass. Instantly we were on Snook and trout. I had cast one direction for a Snook and then in another for trout. Rick had never caught a Snook before and today was his lucky day! He hooked into a 24" snook within minutes of pulling up to a spot. After wearing out that spot we moved about ½ mile and were on the snook again hitting at every cast it seemed like. Then all I heard was "Oh Boy, here we go" and he was fighting a nice 35.5" snook. After that catch the tide stalled out and the fishing slowed. But an hour and a half later the tide was moving again and in a new spot where we saw a lot of action on the water and Snook and Trout were tearing everything up. After the trip was finished he tallied up 15 Snook and 6 trout.
With all the clear water around lighten up on your gear and leader material no heavier than 20lb. I try to find dirty water and a current. There I find bait fish and where I find bait fish I find game fish. White bait is in town and is the go to choice for live bait.
Tight Lines
If you're ready to go fishing give me a call to plan your trip so we can try and catch the tides right. As I do cater to the Veteran community, if you're a Veteran with proof I have the best prices around and I guarantee it. I'm also on Facebook at Jimbo's Charters.
