Bait run fun

Capt. Jim Hobales
November 17, 2010
Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

This past few days we have been under some strong winds and swell from a huge low pressure off the N.E. coast. The positive from this will be the strong push of bait that will follow. Tarpon, Jacks, Snook,Sharks and Bluefish will right behind them, when its calm enough to fish the beach I'll be on it!

I am with John, Sid, Bob and Rich today up in North Biscayne Bay. I had a live well full of Pilchards and Mullet so we started out for Tarpon. We had a couple knock downs and missed fish but no actual jumps of Tarpon. I had a plug out while moving from spot to spot and had a big Jack hit it, he had a bunch of friends with him. I started tossing out hand fulls of pilchards and got them frenzied up, for the next 45 minutes we had Jacks which appeared to be @ 15 lbs. If one guy hooked up all 4 were hooked up. We had a couple good Snook come out from the bridge structure and put up a good fight until making back underneath the pilings. It was an awesome time the guys enjoyed ! I asked if they wanted to go look for some more Tarpon, they agreed. We ran down south and found them but the Tarpon swam at the boat while getting anchored. We did get a few cast at tyem but they already saw us and turned away. This was only a 4 hour trip but action filled the whole time.

Miami Fishing Forecast:

Calm seas this week should be plenty of bait schools around, plenty of Mackeral just off the beaches.
