Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing the past four days has been very good. We have had constant action from a ton of different species. Most of our action has taken place on the bottom. We have had a good run of mutton snapper, grouper, kings and bonitos. The only bad thing is that along with the good bottom bite the "Tax Man" has also shown up in big numbers. Large amounts of bull, black tip, and hammerhead sharks have crashed our party on several occasions. And although not a glamour species, customers are having fun catching some rather large sharks on light tackle. Here is the breakdown for the past couple of days.
7/25/
On 7/25 I fished with The Finkelstein family. The only request was to bend rods and bend rods we did. We ended up with 4 kings, 2 bonitos, and 2 sharks on a 6 hour trip.
7/26
On 7/26 I fished with Matt Mellon and guest. Matt wanted to strictly bottom fish and to catch a grouper. Well we ended up catching a large black grouper, which is pictured below. In addition to the grouper we also caught 4 kingfish, several bonitos and a couple of sharks.

7/27
On 7/27 I fished with multiple time repeat customer Chad Dunn. The beginning of the trip started out a little dicey as a bad rain and lightning storm kept looming and threatening to end our day as quickly as it started. As luck would have it we kept moving the boat away from the storm and were able to put together a decent catch of fish under some trying conditions. We were able to catch 2 barracudas, a couple of the ever present bonitos, a kingfish and a couple of mutton snappers. We ended the day earlier than anticipated due to some inclement weather that was headed our way.

7/28
Nate Habbagger and his son fished with me on the 28th. We fished a 6 hour trip. We caught 2 bonitos, shark, 3 scamp grouper and a large mutton snapper and 2 fish that broke us off.

I have another trip on Monday so I will write a report about that trip when I complete it. My customers want to target sharks so that is what we will be after so stay tuned. As far as some of the other species I didn't mention here is the breakdown.
Tarpon fishing has slowed down considerably which is normal for this time of year. The sailfish have also slowed . I did not catch one on any of those trips mentioned. Again, this is normal for this time of year. What has shown up in good numbers have been the dolphin. There have been dolphin out in 1100' of water about 12-14 miles offshore. The bad thing is that you do have to weed out some smaller dolphin in the quest to find some keepers. Well that is it for now. As you can see by my report and pictures the fishing is still good you just have to go out there and go catch them. If you are interested in doing some fishing give me a call and let's put some fish on the dinner table.
Till next time.
Best of Luck…
