Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report
The Holidays are here and this is a great time for me to Thank all of you for fishing with me and Get Em Sportfishing Charters! Get Em Sportfishing Charters and I wish all of you a great Holiday Season and a Very Happy New Year!
Another winter has come and it still feels like summer in South Florida. With that said fishing in South Florida remains very good. Location is the key to having a great day on the catching fish or a great day on the water enjoying the water and the creatures that live in or around the water.
North Bay has been loaded with bait fish at times but only small jacks, bluerunners, a few Spanish mackerel, bluefish and ladyfish have been feeding on them. Over a few grass flats in the bay there have been scattered sea trout and snappers. I have fished North Bay only a few times recently and had decent action but snook and tarpon have not been part of the catch.
I have made it offshore a few times when the weather allowed and the dolphin fishing remains steady. There have been some kingfish, Spanish mackerel, bonitos and a few sailfish available as well. As always when it comes to the ocean fishing its all about the wind. On the windy days I must stay in the Bay but catch that day when the wind drops down and the offshore catches have been good.
South Bay has been good with catches of small mutton snappers, nice mangrove snappers, Spanish mackerel, big bluerunners, sharks. gags, black, red and Nassau groupers.
Flamingo has been very good with catches of redfish, snook, mangrove snappers, tripletail, jacks, ladyfish and sharks. The wildlife around the Park is always a treat with daily sightings of American crocodiles, manatees, bottle nosed dolphins, sharks, white pelicans, rosette sspoonbills, and more.

Winter is here and the fishing in South Florida is about to explode. With water temperatures rising sea trout and snook will start their spawning seasons. Bigger fish and bigger numbers of fish! Spanish mackerel, bluefish and kingfish are heading north for the summer. As they pass the Miami area they always provide a months' worth of action. Big jack crevalles will be chasing baitfish schools in North Bay and big tarpon will be stealing baits intended for other fish. Offshore we will see kingfish and Spanish mackerel, bonitos, sailfish, dolphins and blackfin tuna feeding right alongside each other. In Flamingo in Everglades National Park we will see the return of all of the migratory birds as they fill the park and make unbelievable sunrise pictures. Fishing for snook, redfish, sheepshead, blackdrum, snapper, sea trout, jacks ladyfish, sharks, tripletail, cobia and more will be as e exciting light tackle fishing as one could wish for.
