Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

Today was slick calm without a drop of wind, therefore we would be "bumpin baits" the majority of the day. Bait was tough but with a few goggle eyes and some small pilchards we decided to get out to the edge and set up. We got out around 9:15am and around 30 min later we had the right flat get knocked off the rigger and off to the races as we had a billfish smoking a cabo 80 and making an aerial show we wont forget. As we got closer to the fish it made few jumps that made us think we had a small blue marlin and after some excitement we noticed it was a big sail in the 105+lb range. It was the biggest atlantic sail any of us have seen, so after some high fives we went back to the edge and set up. Some time goes by and around noon Todd points out that he saw a freejumper and looked like it was heading our way. A few minutes go by and BAM!Sail!LEFT BAIT! Fish ended spitting the hook almost as quick as he hit, but he came back for some unfinished business. I watched the right bait carefully and soon the goggle eye went ballistic and I knew he was on the right bait and sure enough there he was wacking the bait with his bill, "Hes on the right bait!". After a solid hookup we were off to the races again. We successfully released the fish and finished our day 2 for 2. All off our bites came between 160-170 and all were on live goggle eyes. The Connie Marie will be back out shortly, keep in tune, its going to be good.
