Fall Fishing is days away in sunny South Florida!

Capt. Alan Sherman
September 10, 2014
Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

September is here and our South Florida temperatures are still in the 90's and that is expected. As we get closer to the end of September we should see a change in our temperatures and the beginning of the Fall Migration start to take place. Already in some areas of South Florida we are seeing signs of the baitfish schools making it into some of the waters that I fish. In Miami schools of tiny glass minnows and the first finger mullet and larger mullet schools have arrived. Water temperatures in North and South Bay are still pretty high so I wouldn't expect to see a lot of predators working these baitfish schools yet.

Offshore the dolphins are 15 to 20 miles out, kingfish, bonitos, blackfin tuna and sailfish are around but not in numbers.

The fishing in Flamingo continues to be the best place to fish. The fishing in Flamingo has tapered off a bit with many of the larger snook spreading out now that their spawning season is almost over. Now that doesn't mean we aren't catching them it just means we have to look a little harder and fish a little harder to catch the fish we are looking for. Flamingo continues to see good redfish action as we'll as action from tarpon, lots of sharks, snappers, ladyfish, jacks, tripletail and a few cobias.

Here are a few pictures of catches made recently aboard the Get Em with me Capt. Alan Sherman.

Miami Fishing Forecast:

Fall is here and the fishing in South Florida is about to explode. As more and more baitfish schools push into our waters more and more predators will be following and feeding on these baitfish giving my clients plenty of opportunities at some great catches. I look for snook, tarpon, mackerel, large jack crevalles, large ladyfish, snappers, groupers, sea trout, barracudas and more to feeding from sunrise to sunset in North Bay. South Bay will see plenty of action from snapper and groupers as well as mackerel, bluefish and pompano. Offshore we will see kingfish and Spanish mackerel, bonitos, sailfish, dolphins and blackfin tuna feeding right alongside each other. In Flamingo in Everglades National Park we will see the return of all of the migratory birds as they fill the park and make unbelievable sunrise pictures. Fishing for snook, redfish, sheepshead, blackdrum, snapper, sea trout, jacks ladyfish, sharks, tripletail, cobia and more will be as e exciting light tackle fishing as one could wish for.

Target Species:

SNOOK, TARPON, SHARK, REDFISH, SEA TROUT, MACKEREL, DOLPHINS, TUNA
