A Fun Weekend

Capt. Bouncer Smith
July 14, 2014
Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

Friday we went for swordfish and mahi. The swordfish never showed up, so we had to fill the day with mahi. We fished 15 to 20 miles offshore in lads of scattered weed patches and birds. We caught 6 mahi on live pilchards and 15 on white flies fished on a 10 weight fly rod. The fish were small, but lots of fun. We tagged 20 before releasing them and kept one for dinner.

Saturday we fished with Matt and Tyler,12, Tambor.Tyler caught 3 real nice mutton snappers. The gang caught 12 big bonito on deep baits as well as a 25 pound amberjack.

the crazy catch of the day came first , when Captain Billy Springer caught a tail wrapped bonito up by his sinker and a mouth hooked bonito on his hook.

Miami Fishing Forecast:

Expect most mahi to be way off shore looking for cooler water. Kings and bonitos will be way down deep in around 200 feet. Wahoo should get better every day.

Target Species:

swordfish, snook, mahi, snapper and wahoo
