Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report
Well, 2017 is sending us off in a great way.
Yesterday morning we had Nick, 12, and a couple of friends out for a morning of fishing action. They had a ball fishing light tackle to catch a dozen mackerel, some snappers and bonitos.
That afternoon Adam, 12, wanted Tarpon. He got them! He released 3 Tarpon, assorted snappers, jacks and mackerel.
Then in the evening Tom and his boys caught 6 Tarpon and a bunch of ladyfish.
This morning Nick was back and wanted some of this Tarpon action. He got it! He caught and released 4 Tarpon and boated a big Spanish mackerel.
This afternoon was Adam's return match. The first Bait out he caught a big kingfish. Then it was slow, with just a few bottom Fish added to the catch.
Tarpon are my favorite fish. This action the last few trips were as good as any big game Fishing. Only a mile from the dock and averaging a big game Fish every hour is great fishing.
Look for Tarpon at night and sailfish by day to be the top billing in January. Mackerel will provide good daytime action. Look for the best shrimp runs of the year in January. These shrimp runs excite Tarpon, trout, snappers, kingfish and mackerel at night and in the mornings.
