Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

We had a very special week this week.
I started with a plaque honoring my service to the fishing community. This was presented by Mission Fishin which is an organization founded to share children with health issues and their families with fishing and boating. It was started by R J Boyle, a well known fisherman and artist.
We fished Tuesday morning with Doug, a new resident of Miami Beach with a new boat. He wanted to learn about navigating Government Cut and how to catch and use live bait. He learned a lot and caught a sailfish and a big snapper.

In the afternoon Angel and his crew hoped for wahoo, so we went trolling. No wahoo today, but we caught 4 kingfish to 15 pounds, a couple of 12-15 pound mahi and a barracuda.

Thursday we fished a half a day in rough seas. We caught several sharks, a couple barracuda and an amberjack before finishing the morning with a sailfish. Live goggle eyes on the kite produced the action.

Friday we pulled a fast one as Al and I chartered Abie for a freshwater trip. I had wanted to catch a clown knife fish for the last few years. My first cast in the secret spot I caught a beautiful 8.5 pound clown. YAHOO!!! We also caught numerous peacock bass, a couple of snook and a Gar. That was a fun trip.

Finally, at about 8 PM Friday Abie and Yudith announced that their baby due in late March is apparently a Dude!
