Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

The fishing in May continues to be very consistent. The only problem we have run into has been the inconsistent weather where some days it was blowing 25 plus. But things have seemed to settle down and the fishing is following suit. The sailfish are still around. Right now we are averaging about 1-4 fish per trip and yesterday had 3. As I said in my previous report they are here just not in huge numbers as they are in the winter. What has made a much anticipated appearance have been the blackfin tuna. We have caught them on almost every single trip. The fish range from 20-30#s. They should remain here for a couple of more weeks so if you always wanted to catch one now would be the time. The best part is that you don't have to get up early to catch them!

The dolphin fishing is extremely inconsistent. It seems like you have to do a lot of running around for a very poor return on your time and money. In my opinion you are better off staying in on the reef. I'm sure as we get further into summer the mahi fishing will become more stable but there are lots of small fish you have to weed thru to get to some keepers. Tarpon fishing continues to be steady. This has probably been one of the steadiest bites we have been experiencing. The fish have been in the 60-120# class.

In addition to all this I have been doing a fair amount of bottom fishing and the grouper fishing has been decent. What we have caught quite a few of is mutton snapper. The fish have been between 5-11#s. While waiting to catch some of these muttons we have also gotten bites from amberjack, almaco jacks, bonitos and kingfish. The action overall is very good and should continue like this for a while so give me a call and let's go catch something. Until next tide, Best of Luck…
