October was a great month with Permit Bonefish Redfish and Snook here in the Miami area.
I have been fishing out of Everglades National Park we were fishing for Redfish and Snook. Some days are a little better than others due to high winds.
On October 22 we caught 23 Redfish average size was 24 inch two over 33 inch and a couple that we could not stop and lost them to underwater snags. On that trip we landed 3 snook the largest was 26 inches. Most all fish were caught using shrimp on a jig head fished close to structure around points and creek mouths.
On October 26 we did pretty much the same plan but caught more Snook than Reds. We landed 17 Snook and most of them were 22 inch on the first part of an outgoing tide to the north of Ponce Bay out of Flamingo. We also caught 7 Reds but stopped fishing when several Lemon Sharks started attacking the Reds just feet from the boat. So then we started fishing for Sharks and caught one Lemon about 10 ft and another Lemon about 6 ft on dead mullet.
Biscayne Bay has been very good for Permit on slick mornings. permit have been floating and tailing on the west side eating live crabs. One Permit caught By Jason Sullivan and was approximately 20 pounds and another larger permit caught by Eileen Angulo and was near 35 to 40 pounds.
Tailing Bones have been around on the inside of the bay and small schools have been pushing ocean side from Angelfish to Lewis pretty regularly.
I hope Novembers winds are lite because I think with the water cooling off the Bones will be tailing all over the place.
This week I will fishing with professional camera man and T.V. host Bill Boyce to try out some of his new line of soft plastic baits here in Flamingo for Reds and Snook look for my next report. Until next time
