Miami - Freshwater Fishing Report

The Butterfly Peacock bass has started to get ready for the annual spawn. I have noticed bigger males swimming near the shore looking for the female companion. For the most part, I believe that the fish are early this year, they normally spawn in March and April. Fishing for Peacocks has been good in C-1 black creek canal and c-100 cutler drain canal with bigger Peacocks being caught spawning humps on their foreheads. I caught this tank that went almost 7 pounds in sunny south Florida.

Target Species:

Butterfly Peacock Bass, Peacock Bass, Cichla ocellaris

I have been fishing South Florida waters for Peacock Bass for over 25 years. I would like to educate people around the world about the Beautiful Peacock Bass we have in our gorgeous Florida waterways.
