Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report
FISHING NORTH BISCAYNE BAY
with Capt. Alan Sherman
It’s been an interesting week and a half since my last report and I have taken my clients my North Biscayne Bay to South Biscayne Bay and as far south as Flamingo. This is one of the greatest things about living in South Florida. The one constant thing that I have noticed about all three areas is that you had to work hard to come up with an interesting catch. The water temperatures everywhere are cooler than the fall months but not so cold that the fish should shut down. The winds have been up and that probably is the toughest thing to contend with. For the next 4 months we will have to figure a way to work around the wind. North Biscayne Bay has plenty of protection so fishing there has been easy. South Biscayne Bay is more difficult because a lot of the fishing is sight fishing and the wind clouds up the water and makes it harder to see Bones & Permit but the finger channels can and have been very interesting. Flamingo if you stay in the Snake Bight area can be fished easily with strong North or N.E. winds.
Recent Catches have included:
Mark and son Arriel Feldman caught and released cobia, jack crevalles to 8 lbs., speckled sea trout over 16”s and ladyfish to 2 lbs. in Flamingo in Everglades National Park.
Stu Sherman and friends Bill & Vicky caught and released over 20 speckled sea trout in North Biscayne Bay.
Rudy Pollack and his friends caught over 2 dozen speckled sea trout to 16”s. in North Biscayne Bay.
David Lang and his 7 yr. Old son caught and released speckled sea trout, jack crevalles, ladyfish and snook to 24”s. in North Biscayne Bay.
Jerry Cohen caught gag grouper in South Biscayne Bay.
Marty Engel’s and friend Steve caught and released 2 gag groupers, 6 red groupers to 18 ¾”s, mangrove and mutton snappers, bluefish, flounder, grunts and 3 porgy’s to 5 lbs. in the finger channels in South Biscayne Bay.
Plenty of Tarpon have shown up in the Government Cut area and Spanish mackerel are still roaming the bay.
So give me a call and lets go target some of the species and areas that I have just mentioned.
