Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report
Fishing is finally getting pretty good again. Our best day this week we got 6 sailfish
and a 10 pound dolphin. Yesterday we fished 12 pound spinning tackle with live
pilchards and we got a dozen king mackerel up to 22 pounds, 8 false albacore and a
8 pound red grouper. Last night we only had one strike while tarpon fishing, but it
produced a 80 pounder. Today the current finally started to run north again, after
over a week with little or no current. 68 year old Alan Clapp from England was on
his once a year fishing trip and he caught and released 2 sailfish. We raised two
more that never ate the bait. He also got a 20 pound blackfin tuna, a 20 pound false
albacore and two 7 pound king mackerel. On the way home we made 1 drift for
tarpon. Using live shrimp on 7/0 Eagle Claw L2004EL circle hooks. Alan had one
strike which produced a 7 foot, 150 pound tarpon. This was Alan’s first tarpon ever
