Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

We have been fishing every minute of the day. 14 days ago we finished 2nd in the fun fish category of the Yamaha/Contender Miami Billfish Tournament. We caught and released 2 out of 3 swordfish a couple nights ago. 1 about 20 pounds and the other about 50. Spanish mackerel have been good in 30 to 50 feet of water. We caught some nice red grouper and snappers deep dropping. We even got 4 gray grouper on a shallow wreck using jigs on 8 pound spinning tackle. Tarpon have been pretty good at night. We got 3 on Thursday night and 1 of 3 on Monday night.
Tuesday was extra special. Our angler wanted to fish 8 pound tackle only. He caught a 41 pound cobia on the first strike, only 5 minutes after we started fishing. By days end he had caught his first through fourth sailfish ever, plus 4 dolphin, a king mackerel, 2 bonita and a second cobia of 27 pounds.
Through the week we got a couple permit, some small dolphin, king mackerel, some more tarpon and a variety of others.
Saturday we had 3 of 4 sailfish, several king mackerel to 35 pounds and loads of false albacore.
Tarpon season runs till July 1st. Swordfishing season is in it’s prime through the summer. And don’t forget those summer Bahamas trips. E-mail or Call Bouncer’s Dusky 33 and get those reservations in.
