Solid April Fishing

Boy have we had some great fishing this month! On the 14th we fished with Tom Kane and his son 12 year old Peter. They caught 7 permit including Peter's 39 pound beast. On the way home they caught 2 pompano to 17 inch fork length and 1 of 2 tarpon by Peter.

The 15th we fished with Mike Reiner and his son Jacob (11). They also scored with 7 permit and the rare 1 eyed tarpon of about 75 pounds. In the evening Jeff scored with a 125 pound tarpon on a 2 hour tarpon trip.

On the 17th Joe Capuano joined us for three fun days of action. Day one produced 3 permit from 21 to 25 pounds a barracuda and 3 sailfish. Day two was tough, but we still caught a sailfish, dolphin, a couple kings and a couple bonito. Day three was a new list of varieties. We started with a 20 pound king, added a barracuda, a black grouper, 2 african pompano of 29 and 31 pounds and finished the day with final bonito.

In the evenings we were tarpon fishing. On the 17th Brad Orvieto and his guest Dave caught tarpon of approximately 120, 140 and over 160 pounds plus a big jack. Tuesday night we caught 1 tarpon and Wednesday 2 tarpon.

The 20th The Ackermans caught a couple sails, a couple kings and a cuda.

The 21st, Scott Griffin and his guest caught 3 sailfish and our first blackfin tuna of the season. They added a couple kings, a bonito and a cuda for a fun day of variety and action.

Now Saturday was as good as it gets. Lynn Webber, Becky, Mike and Regina drove over from St. Pete for a day of fishing and got all they could dream of. When the sun set, they had caught 13 sailfish. Lynn stole the spotlight with a skipjack tuna and a 5 foot 5 inch, 63 pound wahoo.

Sunday Armondo and Jose caught 4 sailfish and a mutton snapper. The evening trip with the Kennemers produced 2 tarpon .

Monday was tough as the Blakes caught a sailfish and a bonito. The evening Produced tarpon of 100 and 110 pounds for Ben and Dominic.

Let's plan those summer swordfish and snook trips before the summer
