Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

Consistent Action On The Edge
The action in Miami has not slowed down. We have been catching fish on every trip. Name it and we have seen it come over the side.
The sail fishing continues to be good to excellent. We have caught sails on every trip except one and even that trip we had one fish on and he managed to kink the wire and break it. Last Sunday we went 2/3 on the sails, 4 kingfish, a couple of false albacore and a barracuda. We had action all day long until it was time to come home. This is the normal type of action that we expect in Miami this time of year.
We have not left the edge to go look for mahi-mahi but my friend and fellow captain Dave Kostyo did and was rewarded with several gaffer mahi-mahi. It has been hard to leave the edge because of the consistent action. We also managed to catch some black fin tuna that were released; yes you read that correctly, released at the customers request so I should have some good fishing karma coming my way. The blackfins have been biting best in the late afternoon and all of our blackfins have come at almost the end of our trips.
That brings me to my next point. This time of year in Miami we don’t have to get up early to go fishing. In fact the best time to fish is about 3:00 pm till sunset. All we need is a live well full of pilchards and we will be in business. So if you are not an early riser not a problem. Give me a call and we can do some late afternoon fishing.
The king bite is also very good. Fish up to 30#’s have been caught while fishing for sails and tuna. I hate to sound like a broken record but this is the best times of the year to fish in Miami. We have an honest chance to catch sails, tuna, kings, dolphin and tarpon all in one day. So give me a call and let’s go fishing.
Till next time, Best Of Luck…
