Miami - Haulover to Triumph Reef

Capt. Gil Gutierrez
May 30, 2007
Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

When Will It End?

That kind of describes the topic of conversation on the dock for the past 2 ˝ weeks. With winds blowing anywhere from 22-31 knots there have been a lot of charter trips cancelled to say the least. We have been able to do some tarpon fishing in the meantime. Depending on the wind direction we can hide from wind and fish in reasonably calm conditions.

Our best day was 2/3 with one fish in the 120-130 range and a smaller fish in the 90# range. All these fish were caught on crabs. Now, lets get to some of the good points about these high easterly wind conditions we have been encountering. We were having success with dolphin before the winds started to blow so the dolphin bite should only get better. I’m sure those first few people out on the edge are going to have a lot of fun catching a lot of dolphin.

In addition to the all the dolphin we will still be able to catch kingfish, sailfish and blackfin tuna on the edge once the wind dies down.

Until Then

Best Of Luck…

Gil Gutierrez
