Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report
What a great summer we are having.
June brought us two trips to Bimini. They were great. We caught several species of grouper up to about 25 pounds, big amberjacks, lots of kingfish and cero mackerel.
We had countless barracuda and big blue runners. Mangrove snappers and yellowtail snappers provided great dinners.
The highlight of the first trip was a massive school of yellow jacks that devoured Bait, plugs and flies till everybody was worn out.
The most memorable action of the second trip was a wreck in 9 feet of water where every cast offered a shot at Big mangrove snappers.
The home waters were productive too. We caught a blackfin tuna on a swordfish bait 1400 feet below the surface. The same day we made five drops, had five bites and caught two swordfish and the tuna.
On one half day trip we caught a nice black grouper and red snappers of 20 and 22 pounds.
We had sailfish, blackfin tuna, bonitos and plenty of kingfish. But, mahi mahi were not very plentiful.
We finished the Tarpon season with some good catches.
Look for some good snapper action at night. Snook will please those who practice catch and release. This has been the best swordfish year in a decade, so give it a try.
