Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report
Where does the time go! It has been a long time since I wrote a fishing report and it's not that I haven't been fishing it's because I have been so busy there just isn't time enough to write a report. Finally I have a few minutes to get you caught up with what's been happening inshore, offshore and in Flamingo on the "Get Em" in South Florida.
We are in our rainy season and have had a lot of rain recently. Biscayne Bay has had a lot of freshwater pumped through the flood gates and into the bay pushing our predator fish away from the western shorelines and into the center of the bay. In these areas depending on time of day, wind and weather we have had very good action from sea trout to 24 inches, jacks, ladyfish, small blacktip and bull sharks, tarpon, snook, bluefish and snappers. Baitfish has been tough to come by and shrimp are so small that they have not been worth buying. We have been throwing a lot of artificial lures when the baitfish has been scarce. Most of our fish have come from ¼ ounce Hookup lures tipped with a Gulp or Trigger X shrimp. Rapala Skitter Walks, SubWalks and Twitchin Raps are also catching a lot of fish.
Offshore the fishing has been spotty. The weather has kept me away from the ocean at times and the lack of bait has also been a good reason for not heading offshore but during recent inshore and offshore trips we have had action from dolphins to 25 pounds, blackfin tuna, sailfish and a few mutton snappers.
Flamingo has been the bright spot as it always is when we get into the summer months. Snook, redfish, tripletail, sharks, snapper, jacks, ladyfish, tarpon and sawfish have all made an appearance on most of my Flamingo charters. If you have never seen a small tooth sawfish or caught one we have had at least one on most of my Flamingo charters. Yes there have been mosquitoes but they have only been at the boat ramp and not as bad as they have been at my house or in my garage. Dress for the occasion with light long pants and long sleeved shirts and you won't even know they are there.
We have had way too many great catches recently so I will let the pictures do the talking.
Give me a call and let's see what we can catch!
All of our fish have been caught using Daiwa spinning reels, Suffix line and Key Largo rods.
My new 22' pathfinder powered by my Yamaha 250 SHO four stroke engines continues to please my clients.
The fishing is still great and so is the weather.
