Tarpon Action Along The Beach In Miami, Florida

Capt. Dave Kostyo
January 23, 2018
Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

Got my 2018 winter tarpon season off to a good start both in the bay and along the beach.

Tarpon fished last night with Telly and Tony. The objective was to get Tony his first tarpon.

Our first drift had us hooked up and Telly was first up. He landed and released his tarpon. The next tarpon jumped and threw the hook before Tony could hardly get the rod out of the holder.

The third fish was the charm for Tony. A solid hookup to a fish that was pushing 100 pounds. It was back and forth for quite a while. By the time the fish was released, Tony had a new found respect for the Silver King.

We had two more hits before it was time to head in and each fish threw the circle hook on its first jump.
