Tarpon Action Off Miami/Miami Beach, FL

Capt. Dave Kostyo
February 11, 2016
Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report

The cold fronts that have been coming through our area have driven the water temperature down. Find a pocket of warmer water and most likely you'll find the tarpon.

That's what we did last night. Toward the end of the trip, I found that pocket of warmer water after much searching. We had time enough for three more drifts. That's all it took.

We hooked up two tarpon and landed and released one. We thought we had the second one hooked solidly after all it's jumps, head shakes, and long runs. As it turned out, the hook pulled when we caught up to the tarpon and had it straight up and down.
