Miami - Saltwater Fishing Report
It's been a while since my last report so I figured everyone must be wondering what's biting. Honestly, I've been off the water more than I would like. The good news is that it's all been for goog reason.
First, I took some time off to take a much awaited road trip with the family and I have to say it was nice to visit some new places and meet new people. Spending time away from the water is always difficult and I've been itching to get back out there. The only consolation is that the weather hear in Miami has been less than ideal. Hopefully things will improve soon as I plan to be making up for lost time.
Another long awaited event that is taking place as I write this report is that the NOMAD will be getting new outboards along with all new controls, gauges, props, etc. After careful consideration, I opted to go with a pair of the new four stroke Mercury 150's. The increased range and fuel economy will allow me to run wherever the hot bite takes me. I'm hoping that the boat will be ready to fish sometime next week.
In case your wondering about the fishing, this is what is going on. Dolphin are still around offshore and will probably hang around for a while. Most of the fish are smaller schoolies but there are enough decent fish around to keep things interesting.
Closer to shore the bottom fish have been biting. Both mutton and yellowtail snapper have been around in good numbers and will continue to be throughout the next few months. Big mangrove snapper are also around especially at night. Some of these fish can approach four to five pounds and are a ton of fun on light spinning tackle. I have openings for both daytime yellowtail or night time yellowtail/mangrove trips later this month and next month. Last year we had some great catches while bottom fishing.

Miami Fishing Forecast:
Bottom fishing and dolphin fishing should remain strong for the next couple of months. Look for big mangroves at night and Muttons during the day. Yellowtail fishing should be good both day and night.
