Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

The fishing and catching has been about as good as it gets in the Mosquito Lagoon during the past couple weeks. Big redfish have been crushing a shallow running Baitbuster worked on the surface over the schools. For the fly and sight fishing anglers, the reds have been happily tailing in the shallow grass throughout the day.
For some non stop action with kids and adults alike, the trout fishing in 2-5 feet of water is red hot. The DOA Deadly Combo or most any jighead/shad tail thrown along the edges of the flats will produce trout and ladyfish.
For those looking for a bit more challenge, tarpon from 70-100 pounds have been rolling in deeper areas of the Mosquito Lagoon and Indian River. The sinking Baitbuster cast in front of rolling fish has been the top producer. Tons of sailfin catfish and large ladyfish are around the tarpon and will often strike at a free lined live bait before the poons get to it.
Even the snook have been making a showing the past week. The holographic DOA shrimp cast tight to the shoreline has been effective. Now is the best time of year to get a grand slam in Mosquito Lagoon.
