Great Summer Fishing, Mosquito Lagoon, New Smyrna, Daytona Beach

Capt. Michael Savedow

Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

July 2014 has been one busy month with loads of charters and loads of fish, fishing has been great on both my flats fishing Redfish trips and Backcountry mixed bag trips here at Mosquito Lagoon Florida. We have had great sight fishing opportunities on some flats trips with schooling Redfish, such as the trip new client Jody from Georgia arranged with his friend Clint and young sons Estan and Hunter here the boys with a double Redfish shot...........................

Jody was not to be out done this day on Seatrout catching this 28" trophy Trout at our first stop of the morning....................

This trip we landed a dozen Reds total topped by Clint's 27" spot tail, all the Reds sight cast from cruising and tailing schools in shallow water in calm beautiful morning conditions..............

Indian River Backcountry mixed bag fishing has been really good this summer with big numbers of fish on every trip, lots of Speckled and Silver Seatrout, loads of Mangrove Snapper, add in Whiting, Jack Crevalle, sometimes some Sheepshead and Black Drum and who know what surprise fish will come up with 10 to 15 species just about every trip. Great wildlife viewing with Dolphins up close and personal and usually a glimpse of a couple Manatees. Here is Katie with a large Backcountry Seatrout.......................

And young Cooper with a good Black Drum he caught while on a family style trip out with his folks from Georgia on one of my trips....................

Kevin from Orlando brought his dad out on a flats fishing trip with me the day after a less than satisfying offshore party boat trip they went on, only to be tickled pink catching this 26" Redfish on the first cast of the morning................

Then dad Frank caught his biggest ever 33" Red at another of my spots that morning..................

Annual July 4th week repeat clients Scott, Stacy, and young Gabe from Clearwater had a great time catching several Redfish on their flats charter, Stacy with her best of the morning...............
