Take the long way home

Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing is the same as the last report, we are still spanking them!
(I have heard some nightmares from other guides running aground this week...wonder what that feels like? I don't want to know. The water level is down 1.5 feet. This is where my tunnel hull shines.)

That was a quote I wrote in my last fishing report. The next day I got a call at home and a guide buddy of mine got his boat stuck in a hole and could not jump up and run. When I went to pick up him and his clients to bring them back to the dock, I could not believe how skinny it was. The guide had to abandoned his boat and retrieve it the next day. Be careful the water is lower now than a few weeks ago. In fact it was lower today than I have ever seen it.

We took many reds on every trip this week with many over the slot. Big trout are in the sand holes as well. I broke out the deadly Berkley Gulp Jerk shads since trout season has opened and we have been catching many of them. The temps have dropped and it got down right cold here in Fl. . The water temp in the lagoon was 59 today down from 69 a few days ago.
