Mosquito lagoon and New Smyrna Beach winter 2016

Capt. Michael Mann
January 23, 2016
Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing report for winter 2016 Mosquito Lagoon / Daytona and New Smyrna Beach

We have finally gotten some winter weather and with the cold temps we have gotten the lagoon back to normal as far as water clarity . The red fish are schooled up and and the sea trout have moved into their winter spots . What this means is some great fishing on everything from artificial to fly and live bait. The key to catching this time of year is moving slow and stealthy casting near the schools but not right into them, if they are on the move you want to lead them as far as possible . If you want to see what shallow water sight casting for red fish in the Mosquito Lagoon is all about this is the time of year to book a charter . The clean water is clean and the fish are hungry.
