Pigfish calling them in.

Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

The redfish are still schooled up in the Mosquito Lagoon, but a lot of anglers are taking advantage of the pigfish fishing. I had Chris Everett and Mike out yesterday and that is what we did. Pigfish are a small grunt that croke and attract trout and other fish. All of the trout we caught yesterday were in the slot along with six very respectable redfish. The fish were not going off yesterday but it was steady. Our largest trout was three pounds plus. We had one over slot red and the others were all about 26'' 27''. The weather has been a little funky this week after two perfect weeks of fishing. The Indian River is starting to see ladyfish and a few jacks show up, but not in the numbers yet. They are following large schools of finger mullet and every now and again you will see a crash amongst the ripples of bait. It is a good idea to toss past the blow up, crash, boil, or shower of bait and work your offering through. Pilchards are another source of food the trout, ladyfish etc. are following. We also caught a few more tripletail in the past few weeks, but I don't expect to see very many more.

Tarpon are just starting to show in the river and they are off the beach moving north.
While you are off the beach or Ponce you will encounter black tip sharks and jacks. Slow troll a pogy or silver mullet and you will encounter something that pulls hard. The seas have been flat for the last week and it makes it easy to work the beach. I will let you know more on this when I get to fish outside myself this week. But the next few trips are in the Lagoon so that is where I will be. Be safe and remember think like a fish to catch fish or just call me at 386 314 5656
