Mosquito Lagoon & North Indian River Lagoon

Capt. Chris Myers
January 20, 2007
Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

The fishing in the Mosquito Lagoon has continued to be excellent. Schools of reds can be found throughout the Lagoon with some bigger fish beginning to show up. In addition to the redfish, the black drum remain a possibility.

Dave B. from Eustis joined me in the Lagoon for some light tackle action. Dave landed four reds including this one on a DOA Baitbuster.

We found several schools of black drum and tried for a while to get them to eat but never got a bite.

Clifford from Kistler Rods in Texas made his first trip to Mosquito Lagoon this week. We had perfect weather conditions and the fishing was red hot. On his first cast with a topwater bait, several reds were fighting over it the instant it hit the water. Clifford wound up with ten reds, two black drum, and a trout for a Mosquito Lagoon winter slam.
