Mosquito Lagoon & North Indian River Lagoon

Capt. Chris Myers
February 10, 2007
Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

The past two weeks have ushered in some frigid weather to east central Florida. Overnight lows in the 30's and 40's have pushed the water temps in the Mosquito Lagoon and north Indian River Lagoon into the 50's. The fish do not seem to mind the cold and we have found them on the shallow flats and along the edges of flats willing to eat a well presented lure. A 3 or 4" DOA CAL tail in gold or Arkansas Glow has been catching fish on a regular basis.

John from Denver had an excellent day despite a 20 knot wind. He landed seven redfish and one large trout.

There have been several schools of large redfish around but many days they are slow to eat. The 2-10lb fish have been feeding much more aggressively. A well cast soft plastic crab will rarely be refused.
