Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

This is the nicest weekend we have had for a long time. It has been sunny and cool with a slight breeze out of the north. The reds are starting to school up since the water has cooled and are staying put much better. Stake out on the flat and fish the schools instead of pushing them around the flat spazzing them out. They are eating finger mullet and shrimp. For anglers like me I throw a slam’R in pumpkinseed.
The snook are still eating shrimp and pigfish in the Indian River on the out going tide. Line up your moon phases to get the best bite. There are still a few tarpon in the river also I like the outgoing tide for the poons also. A chartreuse tiger twelve-fathom jig thrown in front of the rolling fish is a good bet for a hook up.
The black drum have been feeding on shrimp in the river along with the ladyfish and the jacks. Flounder, trout, and sheepshead will accompany them. The water has been clear and cool so make sure you slow down that retrieve on your plastics. Make your offering the easiest bait in the school to catch.
Remember: Think like a fish to catch fish.
