Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

Well we have had our share of the cold this year like everyone else I guess, but there is light at the end of the tunnel and the days are to only get longer and warmer. The fishing has been on fire for reds and trout around the Haulover canal aria. Schools of reds are hunkered down in the deeper water waiting for a hand out.
Don’t be surprised if you catch a few black drums while you are in the Haulover aria. We took a few last week on shrimp in four foot of water. We also took some small reds mixed in with the blacks. If it is trout you are looking for go south of three Cabbage Island and throw plastics ahead of your drift.
Of course my favorite is the slam,R the action I achieve is hard to beat. I think the trout eat the soft plastic bait because of its erratic movement.
The north end of the Indian River has been slow with little to report about. There are some good places to fish there but after that freeze things shut down up there. Catch of the week goes out to Ken Ham and Bill Sevey with thirty-two reds plus, up to thirty-one inches long. Good job guys.
Remember: Think like a fish to catch fish.
