Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

This past week was another productive week of catching. Reds have been plentiful combing the grass flats in the Mosquito Lagoon. Chip, Ron and Shawn Jones fished a half-day and caught twenty-five reds in the north end of the lagoon. Todd Ulrich and dad took twenty-two reds to thirty-two inches on shrimp and plastics.
The trout are up on the flats with the reds but they have been feeding on fingermullet so I through a 12 Fathom shad and duplicated the colors. Pearl with a black or green back seems to work the best this week. If you want to catch a lot of smaller fish with a keeper here and there fish the clinkers with the three inch shad in smoke color with a eighth ounce jig head.
I have not heard to much going on north in New Smyrna this week, one of my guide friends told me he fished yesterday and covered a lot of water and saw very little. Most of the fish are in the lagoon or in the Tamoka aria. I heard the snook were eating there.
