Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

This weeks clients took some good fish, then again I always tell them the fish are good when they eat your bait. Darrel Ormand and friend took fourteen reds on the flats on shrimp. Tony Gillman caught fourteen reds on the Mosquito Lagoon flats. Jim and Tim Reinhardt took ten reds to thirty-two inches and two black drum.
The Lagoon is holding tons of bait fish and behind the mullet you will find ladyfish, jacks, reds and trout. The trout are chewing the pigfish up with daily limits being caught. I have been using 12 Fathom Slam'Rs in pumpkinseed color and doing quite well.
The tarpon are showing up in the north end of the Indian River. Use jigs or live bait such as a pigfish, finger mullet or pinfish. To sight cast to these explosive fish, watch them roll and place your bait just in front of the roll. Do not put one of these fish in your boat when he is green or someone may get hurt. Trout fishing has been productive under the lights, but remember to bring your bug spray.
Remember: Think like a fish to catch fish.
