Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

Yesterday we started our day fishing for trout in the Mosquito Lagoon with pigfish. Art caught the first trout of the day, a five pounded. Even though we did not catch any more that size we did catch about twenty more. He and Bob also caught four reds to thirty-one inches.
This week I had a twelve-year-old named Josh out for his first fishing trip on the flats. Our first sight of the day was twenty tails waving us down to offer them a quick fix of breakfast. Josh hooked and landed his first redfish ever measuring at forty-three and a half inches.
We have been seeing a few tarpon in the river this week rolling in the morning. The lagoon is also giving up its share of ladyfish, jacks and a few snapper along the edge. Fish the schools of finger mullet for some quick action. Throw a 12-Fathom shad body in these schools of bait and you don’t know what you will come up with.
Remember: Think like a fish to catch fish.
