Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

The rain took over most of central Florida for the last two days. Then today the sky parted after a few hours of clouds and the water turned red. That is in redfish red, we were on a very large school of reds that were hungry after the to day fast. We did not hammer them we just caught a couple and moved on.
A few days prior to the rains we had good fishing conditions and caught a lot of fish. Jeff Cluck and son Nick fished a half-day and caught twenty-five trout and three reds. A lot of the trout were small but still a lot of fun. Sam Cox and Brook Jenkins fished the next day and caught some respectable fish. The high light of the day is when Brook sight casted to an eight-pound trout that was on the hunt. They finished out the day with twelve trout and two reds at twenty-six inches each.
We soaked mullet for a few hours one morning last week to try to entice a tarpon or two. We managed to jump one about fifty pounds. Mangrove snapper should be in the river this month also along with jacks and ladyfish. Out going tides should be the best to catch all of the above.
Remember: Think like a fish to catch fish.
