Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing in the Mosquito Lagoon has been good for trout but sight fishing the flats was a little hinder due to the high winds. I fished the last three days in twenty mile per hour winds. Today the wind dropped to around ten and it made it a lot easier to see the fish. We took some nice reds sight casting with finger mullet on the flats.
We got some crashes on top water plugs, but no hook ups using them. I saw some tarpon rolling in the lagoon near the bait schools, there were also jacks trout and ladyfish in the same aria. The mangrove bite has been on this week. Anchor up on the many rock edges of the Indian River and use small pigs or pins.
The trout have been eating the pigfish in the sandy arias surrounded by grass. We caught some good size fish early in the week before the wind started to blow. I have caught a lot of fish with the slam”Rs in the two to three foot range.
Work your baits slow on the bottom and alter your retrieves.
Remember: Think like a fish to catch fish.
