Ponce Inlet to Mosquito Lagoon

Capt. Joe Porcelli
September 30, 2001
Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing was a little slow for a few days this past week. But the key ward is PAST week. A low-pressure system took its time moving across the state and slowed the bite. We managed to catch fish on my trips but few banner days. The reds were well covered by all the high water we have had in the Mosquito lagoon. They have been a little harder to track due to the high water and a combo of that and the wind last week. This week promises cool temperatures in the sixties and clearer days.

We have been taking our red fish on plastics and finger mullet. When it is windy and overcast it will be more productive staking out and putting out the baits. But you can pole or drift to the white patches and through baits in and across them. We produce a lot of fish like this and it is a good way to pick out targets when the fish are hard to see.

Remember: Think like a fish to catch fish.
