Mosquito Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

This past week was just about perfect except for one day. The weather is just perfect; in fact it got a little hot when the wind just quit today. But we didn’t even notice it because we were focused on some tailing redfish that were working the bank. We got to them and caught a few before the wind shifted and started to blow again. Buy that time it was a welcome sight the anglers said after working up a sweat pulling on those reds. We tossed shrimp at these tailers but later in the morning we caught a few on pumpkinseed
slam’ Rs.
We also took a few trout on the slam’Rs as well. Yesterday we took trout to seven pounds and a few other keeper trout on the soft plastics. I love fishing this soft plastic in trout country, you can see them come up and roll on it then bam! Fish on. They do not pull like a red but the attack is awesome. The reds have spread out a little more leaving only a small number of schools for the early bird. I personally like fishing the singles but for clients it is allot easier to cast to a school of reds. Rick and son Strasser fished a school of reds with me a few days ago and had several double hook ups. A perfect cast is essential for catching the lagoon reds that spend most of their life in school. The water level has come up allot spreading the playing field and giving you more ground to work. To learn the lagoon call: 386-345-0053
